Hi- thanks for stopping by. My name is Tom Parr. I’m an artist living in Asbury Park, NJ. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I had a lot of time on my hands and spent much of that time at Gateway National Park in Sandy Hook New Jersey. I became fascinated with the ancient abandoned officers’ quarters that quietly face Sandy Hook Bay. There is something so calming and poetic in these stoic yellow homes lined up like sculptures against an uninterrupted foreground and background. I have also painted the noble “Life-Saving Station on Sandy Hook. One day I will give the Light House a go. If you have never been I suggest taking a ride out there.

I have made several attempts at painting them. In each attempt reducing details like doors and windows and leaving the basic forms alone. I like Edward Hopper a lot if you can’t tell. I love the contrast and simplicity of defining shapes against large skies. I have always loved Maxfield Parrish’s skies and taking inspiration from them. There is a juxtaposition between the detailed skies and the simple man-made forms in the lower thirds of many of the works that I love.

The paintings on this page are in oil. I am currently working on some subjects around Ocean Grove and Asbury Park as well as small classical still-life paintings. I will be adding new work as I complete them.

If you have any interest in buying my paintings please email me. I will be selling Fine Art Prints that will be made to order. It is a complicated process. I will be working with a studio that specializes in museum-quality prints to ensure high quality.  I will send you a quote on prints as they will vary depending on sizes etc.

Thank you again for taking a look
